Return on Marketing Investment Calculator
Our calculators deliberately don’t use a currency symbol as we know that businesses from all over the world will potentially use them. If you are a business that operates in multiple currencies make sure the numbers you enter are all in the same currency otherwise you will get an inaccurate result.
Using the calculator is simple. First you will need to know the amount spent on each of your digital advertising channels. Then you will need to know what you spent with your agency or freelancer (if you used one) to set-up and manage the campaigns. Finally, you can also add other overheads such as the cost of getting the copy and creative produced (if outsourced) and any other costs you think are relevant.
To calculate your Return on Marketing Investment follow these steps:
Step 1: Enter the amount spent on the ads themselves. This is known as the media spend, and is the amount that you will have been charged by the ad platform(s) for the impressions and clicks that they have provided.
Step 2: Enter your agency or freelancer costs. This is the amount that your agency or freelancer has charged you for their time to set-up and manage the campaigns. There are separate boxes for set-up and ongoing management as not all agencies will provide both services.
Step 3: Add in any other costs that you think are relevant in the final box
Step 4: Enter the number of closed deals resulting from that campaign and the average order value of those deals
Step 5: Hit Calculate to find your Return on Marketing Investment
Like with our Return on Ad Spend Calculator, we understand that the path to conversion isn’t linear. Like before, no consideration is given to the attribution of that closed deal (which other marketing activities contributed to the conversion) so use the result as a guide only. There is more on marketing attribution in our blog post Understanding Marketing Attribution.
